OSCARS are now recruiting for After School Clubs and Holiday Programmes for 2017

OSCARS is a leading childcare provider in Edinburgh and the Lothians, operating out of school childcare during school term time and holidays.

After School club hours of work vary from club-to-club but usually are between 2pm-6pm Monday-Thursday and 1130am-6pm on a Friday.

Our breakfast club provision operates Monday-Friday from 7.15am-9.00am.

Holiday programmes are open from 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday throughout the Easter & Summer holidays at various locations in Edinburgh including Blackhall Primary School and George Heriot’s School and at Hutchesons’ Grammar, Glasgow.

We invite staff applications for all of our clubs and holiday programmes in particular from those individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated and responsible, or individuals who wish to pursue a career in childcare or teaching and have a real desire to work with children.

 

Our Roles

 

Play Workers – After School Clubs, Holiday Programmes

The role involves working within a small team of staff responsible for the care of primary school age children and providing them with a wide range of activities together with a high level of care and supervision. Staff are also expected to provide excellent customer care and provide parents with informative feedback on a daily basis.

 

Deputy Play Leaders – After School Clubs

The Deputy Play Leader will provide support to the Play Leader with regard planning and administration, while working alongside the team of Play Workers.

Ideally, applicants will hold a relevant qualification (e.g. SVQ Level III or HNC Early Years & Education), which meets the required criteria of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at Practitioner Level.

 

Play Leaders – After School Clubs

The role involves managing a team of staff responsible for the care of primary school age children and providing them with a wide range of activities together with a high level of care and supervision.

  • You will be expected to provide excellent customer care and provide parents with informative feedback on a daily basis.
  • You will also be required to work closely with the OSCARS Operations Manager and head office to ensure a high level of quality assurance within the service.

Previous experience of managing within an After School Club or similar care setting is essential as well as a good working knowledge of the national care standards.

 

Holiday Programmes

We have a number of specialist roles available for each of our multi activity holiday programmes.

We are looking for applicants who have some previous experience of working with children ages 5-14 in a similar setting and can bring enthusiasm, interaction with the children and creative thinking into an OSCARS holiday programme.

You may be a Drama student, a Sports coach, or a Music teacher, and you will be encouraged to use your skills to enrich the programme at each of the holiday programme locations.

OSCARS CPD, support & checks

OSCARS is committed to assisting staff in their continued professional development through the provision of regular training opportunities.

Support is also given to staff who demonstrate a commitment to undertaking a formal childcare qualification.

Applicants will also be expected to undergo a PVG check and provide details of 2 referees for pre-employment checks.
