OSCARS took over the operational running of Corstorphine After School Club in July 2017. The after school club is based from Corstorphine Community Church where children enjoy use of the main church hall, side rooms, kitchen, bathroom facilities and the surrounding grounds of the property. The after school club is open to children in classes P1 – P7 attending Corstorphine Primary School. OSCARS manages the After School Club on behalf of a parent committee.
The After School Club
The After School club is based from Corstorphine Community Church and children attending the club are collected from Corstorphine Primary School by OSCARS staff before making the short walk to the hall.
The after school club commences from the end of the school day until 6.00pm Monday to Friday. A wide range of activities is offered, and following consultation with the children, a weekly programme of events and activities is planned.
On a Monday to Thursday on arrival, and on a Friday mid-afternoon, children receive a nutritious snack and drink which varies from day to day, and the snack menu is displayed on a weekly basis at the club. Unlimited drinks are available throughout the afternoon.
OSCARS staff all wear OSCARS uniform consisting of orange polo shirt, orange fleece and ID badge. They collect children in classes P1 – P2 from their classrooms, while older children are greeted at the school entrance door.
The programme takes into account the time of year, and incorporates special occasions and multi-cultural celebrations and at regular intervals will include theme weeks. Activities offered always include arts & crafts, physical activities and imaginative play, and the programme is always clearly displayed for all children/parents/carers to see.
Resources such as sports equipment, arts and crafts materials, board games, books, dressing up clothes and pretend play equipment are readily available daily.
Occasionally, the children will enjoy an off-site activity, such as a trip to a local park, cinema, bowling etc. Details of these activities will be communicated to children/parents/carers in advance.
In service day and mid term childcare provision is offered and will take place at either Carrick Knowe Primary School or Blackhall Primary School.
OSCARS @ Corstorphine Breakfast Club operates from Corstorphine Community Church. Open Monday – Friday from 7.30am, our dedicated staff team will be on hand to offer breakfast (toast, cereals, fruit, milk and water) and a range of activities before preparing the children for the start of the school day. Our staff team will escort the children safely to Corstorphine Primary School each morning, ensuring they arrive on time and enter school safely in the care of their class teacher.
Please note, OSCARS operate the breakfast club provision independently of the Corstorphine Out of School Childcare Committee.Request a Place
