The first is in the After School Club base and dining room at the school, the second is based from the Saughton Community Association Hall. Both the breakfast and after school clubs are open to children in classes P1 – P7 attending Roseburn Primary School. OSCARS manages the After School Club on behalf of a parent committee.

Breakfast Club

OSCARS breakfast club operates from the After School Club base and school dining room and opens at 7.30am Monday to Friday. A nutritious breakfast is served by staff, and children can play a variety of games until the start of the school day. OSCARS staff escort children to their relevant meeting point at the commencement of the school day.

The After School Club

The After School club has two locations and is based from Roseburn Primary School (40 places Monday to Friday). and the Saughton Community Association Hall ( 20 places Monday to Thursday).

Children attending  the Saughton Community Association Hall are collected from Roseburn Primary School by OSCARS staff before making the short walk to the hall.

The Saughton Community Association Hall base commences from the end of the school day until 5.45pm Monday to Thursday. The Roseburn Primary School base commences from the end of the school day until 5.45pm Monday to Friday. Both venues offer a wide range of activities, and following consultation with the children, a weekly programme of events and activities is planned.

On a Monday to Thursday on arrival, and on a Friday mid-afternoon, children receive a nutritious snack and drink which varies from day to day and the snack menu is displayed on a weekly basis at the club. Unlimited drinks are available throughout the afternoon.

OSCARS staff all wear OSCARS uniform consisting of orange polo shirt, orange fleece and ID badge. They collect children in classes P1 – P2 from their classrooms, while older children are greeted at the club base for those attending Roseburn Primary School and at the school entrance door for those attending the Saughton Community Association Hall.

The programme takes into account the time of year, and incorporates special occasions and multi-cultural celebrations and at regular intervals will include theme weeks. Activities offered always include arts & crafts, physical activities and imaginative play, and the programme is always clearly displayed for all children/parents/carers to see.

Resources such as sports equipment, arts and crafts materials, board games, books, dressing up clothes and pretend play equipment are readily available daily.

Occasionally, the children will enjoy an off-site activity, such as a trip to a local park, cinema, bowling etc. Details of these activities will be communicated to children/parents/carers in advance.

In service day and mid term childcare provision is offered and will take place at Roseburn Primary School.
